Elusive Nerd Girl Commodity.

Ask a Cute Nerd girl is my personal collection of cute and nerdy lady friends. I have spent my time on earth as of now amassing a pretty fucking sweet collection, if I do say so myself. I have somehow managed to coerce them into transforming together into regional panel here to advise you upon anything from the everyday nuances of life to your deepest, darkest, dirtiest secrets. We don't claim to know it all. We do all have vaginas though.

Please write to us! We will answer. All emails are received and reviewed by Mary. To ask a question of the panel:

I will distribute anything that is not plain ol' porn** to my remaining beautiful and sensitive ladies. We will publish your questions along with our collective responses.
If you wish to remain anonymous to the internet public, I will respect your wishes.
Pretty much anything you send me, I own.
**I reserve the right to laugh at and publish any porn sent to me.

Answers for Charles...

LAUREN

1.Best: Ghost Rider. I know there are disagreements but that was the most accurate comic based movie I have ever seen.

Worst: Catwoman

MARY

I couldn't be happier with our first question(s). I have far too much too say about the first one.

1. Best: History of Violence. I ♥ David Cronenberg. I know it wasn't exactly like the graphic novel. That doesn't make me like it any less. Plus I adore Viggo Mortensen. Otherwise I love the first Batman. I love Batman Begins. I am pretty sure I will love The Dark Knight. One of our other cute nerd girls, Nessa worked on The Dark Knight in Chicago.

I hate a lot of comic based movies. Here is a short list:Catwoman, the Joel Schumacher Batmans, Daredevil, both Punisher movies especially the one with Dolph Lundgren...I will stop now because there are far too many comics I love that have been made into terrible movies. I think that hands down the winner for the absolute WORST has to be...

Hasselhoff as Nick Fury: Agent of Shield

Or maybe that is the best. I can't decide.

NESSA

1. Best: 300 and the Crow- part 1, not the rest.

It's unanimous. Catwoman has to be the worst of all time.

LAUREN

2. I believe that zombies should stumble all discombobulated, the running thing I don't care much for.

MARY

2. I am totally with Lauren here. The walking dead don't run due to rigor mortis. Besides they are the walking dead. My fabulous partner in crime and friend Terry Pounds recently wrote a movie called The Dead Won't Die where there are both fast and slow zombie walkers with a fascinating explanation for the difference. Here is the SXSW Grindhouse Trailer:

I will post more about the movie as it progresses. I am hoping to work on it or at least be a zombie.

NESSA

2. The living dead move slowly. Zombies (or zombie-esque beings) that are not the living dead but more like rabid humans can move faster.

LAUREN

3. Yes- however I thought the Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness was enjoyable, though short lived.

MARY

3. Not really. I zombies. Zombie comics, zombie movies, zombie pub crawls...I takes me zombies where I can gets me zombies. I even often dream about zombies therefore I am not tired of the zombie comic trend. I loved The Walking Dead. Like Lauren, I adore Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness. I liked seeing Spidey and Hulk turn into zombies. In fact, I like seeing the all of the Marvel superheroes turn into zombies.

That being said, I can totally see how the zombie comic trend could be annoying to someone that didn't love zombies like I do. I predict that zombies are on their way out. If you are tired of zombies, focus on Skrulls instead. That is maddening enough, isn't it?

NESSA

3. I'm not fully on the zombie ship right now but there is a soft spot in my heart for them.

Thank you Charles for your questions! Also ya'll should check out Charles's blog and site!

I am pretty sure most of my questions will be from local Minneapolis artists until my Powers column hits the stands since Danno has been whoring my site around the internet. This is fun for him since I have been his cute nerdy friend for so long yet I don't create comics. This is his chance to share me with the world.

I am happy with the few questions I have received so far. Please send me more! I only answered one email today. I don't want blow my wad.

Thanks for reading!

dank! drawings

Danno drew some Marys for ya'll. He can and does draw me more often and better than anyone else I know. He does know me pretty goddamn well. We have been friends for over ten years now. I fell in love with his comics zine-style back in 1996. He is still one of my best friends except he is married with stepchitlins now so I hardly ever see him anymore.

I ♥ this one because it has me worshipping Boba Fett which I have been known to do.

This one is me as Deena with strong influence from Oeming obvy. Plus it points out that Ask a Cute Nerd Girl is not a dating site. There is your answer to that question.

What to do until emails come?

I certainly hope we will get emails. Lauren & I both think this is a pretty nifty idea. I have several other ladies that have agreed to work on this with me that don't have anything besides myspace accounts. I will see if they will agree to let me link those. It is strictly email relationships between us ladies right now. Nessa lives in Chicago, Lauren in Hollywood, anonymous mystery girl writer in NY and me here in Minneapolis. I want a southern nerd girl too. I am recruiting. Join us!

I have never been much of a blogger before. I am a writer. I never wrote on the internet until now. I figure I will write here until we get some emails from my letters column being published for nerds to see in Powers. I didn't have this blogging started by the time the letters column was due. In fact, I hadn't even thought of it yet. My nerdy boys that worship me already in my life assure me that there are others that want to know what we ladies think about things...yadda yadda..yet another blog is born. I linked the myspace page to here in hopes that my comic readers find me. Let me know if any of you do! I don't think I can transcribe my column here until after Powers 27 comes out on 11/21. Stay tuned for details on that. I can't wait for you to all read it. It turned out hilarious.

I am going to try for daily posts. Hopefully I will get enough questions.

The Chess with Birds Opinion

I asked Henry ( http://chesswithbirds.com/ ) what he thought of my site today. He said that I cannot have a black background because it makes me look like a videogame. I told him that is my target audience except I think it looks like comics. Same difference perhaps.

Then Henry and I also discussed Thanksgiving and turkeys. This is the result of that:

Chess with Birds is my friend Henry. I color for him sometimes and fix his grammatical errors.

FallCon

I was lucky enough to meet Oeming at FallCon here in the Twin Cities.

I got in for free by pointing out that I was a GIRL that also happened to win the recent Powers contest. Free nerdage for Mary!

Danno with the sweet Silver Surfer that they wouldn't let anyone get too close to. Note that fancy rope!

I threatened that little girl's life. She did not fear me.

I spent most of my time with my dear friend Matt at his booth. He is the creator of Zed Reckoning.

I spent the rest of the time in the dank corner of http://www.cartoonistconspiracy.com/ land with my darling friend Danno of staplegenius fame. http://www.staplegenius.com/
